A bit of further research shows that not all cards support AGP textures which is what the Proxy DLL requires. To test if your card supports this, run the DirectX Diagnostic Tool:
1.) go to your Windows Start menu
2.) select Run
3.) Enter
dxdiag in the "Open" text box
4.) Click OK.
5.) When the DirectX Diagnostic Tool launches, select the tab at the top corresponding to your primary Falcon out-the-window display (I have two monitors so I show two tabs, "Display 1" and "Display 2"; on my machine, "Display 1" is my primary.)
6.) Look in the section labelled "DirectX Features", and see if AGP Texture Acceleration is Enabled or Disabled. If it's Disabled and the Enable button is grayed out, your video card or drivers do not support this feature.
BTW I was able to reproduce the problem you guys are having -- once I clicked "Disable" on my AGP Texture Acceleration in DXDiag, I had the 3D freezing problem in Falcon with the proxy DLL installed. Clicking Enable for AGP Texture Acceleration made the problem go away. So that's the definately the cause right there.
Hopefully your card supports AGP Texture Acceleration (mine is a PCI-e card and it does support this so it has nothing to do with the bus type of card that you have). If your card does not support this feature you cannot use the proxy DLL. The only real viable alternative if your card does not support AGP Texture Acceleration is is to delete the proxy dll (ddraw.dll) from your Falcon folder and increase the value of the "Export a new set of images to shared memory every n video frames" setting in MFD Extractor's Performance/"BMS 2.0/OF Advanced Options..." dialog box, so that your Falcon frame rates don't go completely to hell. But your MFD exporter frame rates will then drop off...so you'll have to find a balance there.
