Aye Aye Sir !
In 1946, USAF recognized all the early jet fighters were lacked sufficient range to escort bombers to the target. So the proposal for a penetration fighter were requested. In 1947, North American responded with the proposal for a revised version of the F-86A, which the fuselage size was enlarged for bigger internal fuel tanks to increase its range. Since the extra fuel increased weight so the more powerful engine was chosen. A dual-wheel main landing gear was selected for the heavier weight amount. It also installed new SCR-720 radar / six cannons in nose so the air intakes relocated to the fuselage side with special NACA-designed flush air scoop. USAF ordered two prototypes which designated F-86C. In 1948, 118 production were also ordered and was redesignated, F-93. However, with the success of the B-47 bomber which speed fast enough without need from fighter escort, the F-93 production contract was cancelled. The first prototype made its first flight in 1950. Its range and speed were performed as expected. After a fly-off with Lockheed XF-90 and McDonnell XF-88, two YF-93s were handed over to NACA for further tests until late 1950s.

Bravo ! Le SpartakDeltafan a écrit :BOLKHOVITINOV S (si j'en crois SOVIET X-PLANES de Yefim Gordon et Bill Gunston)
The Bolkhovitinov "OKB" (disign bureau) was formed in 1937 and was responsible for producing several a/c types mostly experimental. The project "S" (dubbed "Spartak") was conceived in 1936. The prototype was ready at the end of 1937 and in summer of the next year the initial flight trials began. Despite of very promising tandem engines layout, the plane turned out to be sluggish and underpowered because of considerable loss of power in the transmission gear and wrong wing profile. Although the wing was modified, the plane's characteristics were still poor and the whole project was abandoned in 1941.

DeltaFan = Fast Bullet BoyDeltafan a écrit :MIZUNO SHINRYU (également vu comme SHINRYU II)
The Mizuno "Shinryu" was built at the end of the war as the suicide Kamikaze glider powered with four assist rocket engines for take-off. The aircraft never flew and soon was abandoned in favor of more advanced project, "Shinryu 2". This type was intended for interceptor and ground attack role. Four powerful Toku-Ro 1 Type 2 rocket engines, 600KG each were to propel this wooden aircraft up to the operational speed and altitude within 30 seconds as this was the endurance of these rockets. Canard layout was chosen for best top speed. Small spoilers were added to the wings for better handling characteristics. Armament consisted of six-eight rockets. Take-off was to be performed from the trolley similar to that used for Mitsubishi J8M Shusui. Three retractable skids were to be used for landing. As a B-29 potential interceptor, Shinryu 2 was to fly at extreme altitudes where the air pressure is so low, that a pilot can't survive without special equipment. To solve this problem a special pressurized suite was to be used instead of heavy pressurized cabin. Shinryu 2 was never built mostly because of the end of hostilities.
