Some screenies of the work on the new airbases - below are preliminary test of runways and taxiways at AFB Ondangwa. The Angolan Theatre will include only new airbases - nearly 15 new airbases and some bush strips will be included.
I finally managed to figure out exactly how the Pt nodes work, but I am still totally unclear what a CRITICAL TAXI POINT and a FOLLOW ME Pt does - any info would be appreciated about them.
Would you be interested in some photos we took of SAAF aircraft during this project? - we have literraly taken well over 4000 pictures for this project.

I have missed some updates - so here they are
MD & CET had access to some F-1's which were properly photoreferenced for texturing purposes. Over 3000 photographs have been taken for authentic texturing and modelling.
The cockpit work for 2d and 3d cockpit work has been done and expect a jaw opening eye popping creation from MD.
Some F1 Photoshoot images.
Note the lengths we go to to get the best simulation product out that we can
I in the mean time, have taken over 2000 photo's of the Mig-21 at Swartkops, as well as about 1000 measurements, to ensure modelling accuracy. (My RL job as a designer helps)
Mig-21 is currently being built and should fly untextured this week, External texturing hopefully done by the airshow on the 17th of September.
On that note, the Combat 360 team will be doing a progress demonstration of the Beta release, at the Swartkops airshow on the 17th of September. Anybody in the area, please drop by and discuss anything of interest.

Just to let folks know - we have added the Hawk 120 and Gripen B and C models to our list. Modelling will be completed within 2 weeks on both. Both will be fully flyable in the Angolan Theatre with full 2D and 3D pits PLUS at AAD 2006 you will be able to pilot the Gripen from our REALPIT simulator.
CET and Kasper is heading up the RealSim projects.
Thank you to all the South African supporters who visited us at the Swartkop Airshow - your support was incredible - and we have had numerous of them who will be assisting our team -
A special mention to "our Hawk source", and to Bones for locating full avionics manuals on the Cyrano/AIDA radar systems, F1 HUD manuals and the 1metre resolution SAAF recon pics of all the airbases in the campaign.
Some photos of the show soon

Like I said in previous post; - we have managed to get access to some extremely detailed satellite and SAAF aerial recon photography and am working on recreating the 20-30 airbases and airfields used in the campaign.
One of the "easier"bases to recreate has been the numerous forward Helicopter Administration Bases used as part of most big external operations into Angola. The SAAF also lasrgely made use of just about any "flat clear" areas in the desert or bush to set up foward air strips or supply points, and what you see below is some attempts to put that into reality in Falcon.
It is actually great fun to put a C-130 down in the bush whilst avoiding trees, animals and SADF tents etc along your approach. In some approaches you need to get it just right to land the big birds in the small clearings....
Below is some screenies from prelinary tests, we have since added some static choppers and troops on the ground, more trees, bush - you may also have some buck or elephants moving about or have some unexpected idiot ground commander cut across your path with his column of vehichles.
Please ignore quality on these shots - done on my 32Mb vis card laptop !!!
C-47 Dak ligns up for approach into bush desert clearing.
Impala MkII circles the perimeter of the forward base on vigil.
Daks and C-130 amongst some tents and ground support vehicles.
Samil 20 and Buffels at the strips
Imp takes final pass over clearing and then heads off home to Mpacha in the Caprivi
Mirage F1 2D panel tests - working on matching "LODS" / model to line up with actual photographs

Just a minor update
Kasper is in Australia at the moment but is working on the high res models of the Mig-21 (nearly done), the new Gripen and Hawk 120.
We decided to add the Hawk as a high res model based on special requests from folk at BAe systems and on the excellent reference material and manuals we recieved on this aircraft.
CET is feverishly researching the real pit project and with Kasper has made some 3Dmax mockups with simulated video projector displays. Will get the video clip from them to post here of the proposal.
Shutterman is working on photographic material of the Hawk, Gripen and Cheetah pits.
Shaunman (new member) has been tasked to try and help Seifer with his excellent cockpit editor code to see where they can build in enhancements.
Len (another new member) has begun texturing the long list of ccc's great contribution of SADF and FAPLA ground vehicles and equipment - I just got the Buffel back from him.
Grant (Vlerkies/Nero) and his croonies are working on supplying a few of the pilots voices for the project. On this note (ding !!), want to thank CET's brother for completing all 2500 phrases for the ATC 1 voice over. (he has real ATC experience and his knowledge is well appreciated). I have processed some of the phrases and they are currently working in the theater.
Another thank you to Seifer and JoJo for assisting in working through some problem areas I experienced with the Mirage F1AZ pit - below Jojo, you can see that your solution with transparancy worked 100%.
I finished the "incidence" indicator last night - took some work to get the warning flag on the right of the moving tape to show correctly (once again - your "light" solution did the trick). See below.
I have been concentrating on getting the F1AZ 2D complete, followed by the Impala Mk.II and Buccaneer S50.
The pit priority list is below

JoJo
could you explain that "transform dial into tape" idea a bit more ?? I was trying this last night on the F1AZ pit.
On the right front strake is the G meter on the F1, it is a tape with a moving pointer. I tried copying the method I used on the Incidence meter on the left strake, but binding it to the G-dial callback slot.
Did not work - actually caused crashes.
Problem 2
=========
I seem to be able to "switch" off all the unwanted parts of the HSI I dont need on the HUD, but I cannot seem to loose the W - horizontal indicator (blue W thingy)
Problem 3
=========
I am reconstructing to a fair degree of success, the original F1 HUD. I have some of the warnings (e.g. low alt etc) working fine on the HUD, see pics... but the F1 had a "compass rose" in NAV mode and distance scale "rose" in WPNS mode that rotated along the top edge of the HUD
Now I can get that part to work, by using the HSI in transparent "mode" and tweaking the graphics. I also flipped it horizontally and vertically to get it to read correct.
Problem is I need to "mask off" the top part of the rose so only the bottom quarter of the compass rose is visible. Tried some techniques but the old brain was too tired. Any ideas?
