Happy Holidays from IL-2 Sturmovik team
Dear Friend,
Thank you for your continued interest in our project!
Year 2015 was very rich in news and updates for IL-2 Sturmovik. This is only a part of the additions and improvements for the sim that were released this year:
- 9 huge free updates for IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad were released, containing more than 400 improvements, additions and fixes based on customers feedback;
- Long-awaited summer and autumn seasons were added;
- We added the new single player campaign that covers early stages of Stalingrad battle from last days of flaming August to the middle of November when first snowflakes started to fall on the ruins of the city. In the new campaign we've tried to implement some of your requests and it contains static scenarios in addition to regular dynamically generated ones. Each one of them is a short story of a Russian or German pilot, a small episode of the world war;
- Mission editor was released, it is a fully featured tool used by our design department (<game_folder>\bin\editor\STEditor.exe);
- Multiplayer dedicated server (<game_folder>\bin\game\DServer.exe) and the remote client that can be used to control a dedicated server remotely (<game_folder>\bin\console\);
- AI controlled transport plane Ju 52 that you can encounter in Quick Mission Builder and shot down at the certain stages of the campaign. In addition, it can be used in custom scenarios;
Velikiye Luki map was added. It can be used anywhere - in QMB, multiplayer and custom scenarios;
- New graphics effects and options added (HDR and SSAO effects can be switched off, there is a dedicated distant landscape texture quality option, etc.);
- Free view camera added (F11);
- Experimental tank control module added. T-34-76 model made by Stalingrad tractor factory in 1942 and PzKpfw III Ausf. L, complete with 3D cockpits, adjustable gun sights and realistically modeled armor plates, can be player controlled (available to all owners of the sim for free). It is possible to control a tank in multiplayer single handedly or with a friend that will be your gunner (multi-crew);
- For newcomers to the genre (and for other people who can't buy a dedicated joystick for any reason) we added the mouse control option. Some multiplayer hosters allow only joystick users, while most of them don't distinguish between control types;
- The next theatre of war in IL-2 Sturmovik world, IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Moscow, is available for pre-order; http://goo.gl/T2GxxM
- everal planes created for IL-2 Battle of Moscow can already be flown in IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad by players who pre-ordered IL-2 Battle of Moscow: I-16 type 24, P-40 E-1, Bf 109 E-7, Bf 110 E-2 and MiG-3 series 24. Other players can encounter these planes in multiplayer, campaign and Quick Mission Builder.
We are proud that we, with the help of tester team, were able to release so much new stuff and improve the sim in many ways while meeting the strict deadlines this year.
In case You or Your friends don't own IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad yet, right now would be a convenient time to do so: Winter Sale is underway. Both editions of IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad and two additional planes for Standard edition of the game are available at 50% off discount both at our website and on Steam. http://goo.gl/Yz9Pwh
