" Remi,
I just finished loading Pacific Fighters, all of the updates to Version 4.04, the Iwo Jima map and the new skins that you sent me, and my flight control joystick onto my laptop. To my great relief, it looks like it is going to work just fine.
Your mission files and newest skins arrived just as I turned off the laptop and started outside to mow my lawn. I loaded all of the files onto my desktop computer, but I haven't had time to fly the mission yet. I did, however, look at the Power Point slide show tonight. Wow! Remi, this is pretty incredible, and way more than I expected. I will download the zip files onto a USB flash drive, and I can load them onto my laptop computer during our flight in the morning. We am leaving for the airport early in the morning, about 10 hours from right now, and I haven't started packing yet!
I am so excited to receive these files, and I am very anxious to fly the mission. More than that, I can't wait to see the WWII veterans flying the mission in their Mustangs. G.B. Lambert and his son Tim will be there, as will Ed Linfante, Wes Murphey, and the daughter of Warren Clayton, who flew Hel-Eter with Lt. O'Hearn. Other pilots attending will be Jack Folsom (457th), Jack Cronk (457th), Bill Peterson (458th), Jack Westbrook (458th), Ralph Coltman (458th), Harrison Shipman (CO of 458th), and Jack Rice (462nd). There will also be sons, daughters, and grandchildren of deceased pilots, and I know they will want to try to fly your mission.
Is it all right with you if I share your mission files and skins with these people? In fact, I would like to write an article about your wonderful work for our web page (
http://www.506thfightergroup.org) and offer the skins and mission for download there. This is just too good to use only once a year by a small handful of people. I think that being able to simulate this type of mission will give people a greater appreciation of what these men did 61 years ago. I will, of course, give you and your friends all of the credit that you deserve, and I will send you a copy of my article for your approval before I put it on the web site. If you would rather that I not do that, I will certainly understand.
Please extend my appreciation to Greg Boyington, JJ, Pierre2A, Gaston, and Fight 69 for their help. This obviously took many hours of work, and it was most kind of all of you to do it.
Best regards,
John "
