General information:

"IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles" provides us with three different methods to control view movement. "FB View Plus" is a plug-in aimed at improving both the PanView and SnapView.

1), PanView changes the view by a certain scale each time you push the coolie hat. The default PanView movement scale in FB is 45 degrees when changed horizontally and 30 degrees vertically. That is to say, in order to switch your view from looking straight to cockpit ceiling, you have to push up the hat three times. Furthermore, it does not support any continuous movement, which means If you want to switch your view from lower left (-135) to lower right (+135), you have to push the hat for six times, during which, certain misdoings could happen especially when engaged in a hot and deadly furball. That is one of the reasons why PanView is not so handy in the dogfights.

"FB View Plus" allows you to adjust the moving scale of your view movement freely. Say, you can make that "Level to Ceiling" change within two touches by defining the vertical moving scale to 45 degrees, and furthermore, continuous view movements are now possible. For instance, you can adjust the moving speed to 500 degrees/S, and it only takes 1.85 seconds to switch your view from lower left(-135) to lower right(+135) by holding the hat.

2) SnapView is another alternative of controlling view movements that automatically center the view after you release the hat. The FB default setting has a major drawback: We have a dead space. Besides that, one has to keep holding the hat in order to retain his desired view.

With "FB View Plus", the number and position of the fixed views can be personalized according to one's taste. It can prove to be very useful on a stick with dual-coolie-hats (or more) such as a Saitek X-36. In addition to that, you may choose "one button to center view" instead of the original "auto center view" thus one can avoid the holding procedure which could sometimes result in faulty movements. The hotkey map function allows you to get rid of the view positions Pov45, Pov135, Pov225 and Pov315, by doing so, you can solve the problem of a "shaking screen" caused by inaccurate actions of slanted angles.

3) "FB View Plus" offers a brand new alternative of conducting view changes: SearchView. No matter which method you are using, Snap or Pan, you can always activate the SearchView mode by holding the "Search Key" (The default key is Number Pad Enter). In the SearchView mode, while moving the hat, it does a small scale view change which allows you to adjust the view in a certain scope. Of course you can also define the movable area to a rather large extent, and just use the hat as a mouse if you want.

4) "FB View Plus" also uses a button to switch between SnapView and PanView (Default key is F9). As a supplement, it now makes the PanView and SnapView work together possible. This may only benefit those who have multi-hats such as a set of X-36. You may define the main hat on the right as PanView and with one of the left hats with SnapView to do quick time search with certain fixed area such as your six clock high.

Installation:
1, Run the "Setup.exe". During the first install, you will be asked to input the right path to your "IL2-Sturmovik Forgotten Battles" directory.

2, In order to make "FB View Plus" work properly, setup will ask you to abolish all the view control settings, you may delete all the key maps manually or you can simply click on the "Clean view control settings in FB" button. "FB View Plus" will automatically clean all the work and meanwhile make a backup file of your previous settings.

Configuration:

1, The upper part of the "FB View Plus" window consists of all the basic configurations and the preview window. The lower part constitutes some specific configurations for PanView, SnapView and SearchView. If you only use PanView mode, you can just ignore all the settings related with SnapView and SearchView.

2, Default Settings: Certain parts of "FB View Plus" have a button named "Default Settings" which changes all the settings back to the original values of the Forgotten Battles.

3, Recommended Settings: Some of the modules also have a button called "Recommended Settings" which allows you to change the settings to the recommended values backed up with a supplementary explanation.

4, Save Changes: The button "Save Changes" locates at the upper left corner of the main operating window, by clicking on it, every change you made will be applied and saved. All the changes you've modified will not take place until you click on the save button.

5, Test: There is the "Test" button on the upper left part and you may test all the configurations after any changes you've made. By observing the preview window, you can make some further modifications to meet your taste.

6, Run: The program will not become effective until you click on the "Run" button. If you want to exterminate or modify the program, please click on the "FB View Plus" icon in the System tray.

Attention:

1, You must clean all the view setting hotkeys before activate "FB View Plus", if not, conflicts will occur.
2, All the hotkeys you define in "FB View Plus" should not be identical to those of Forgotten Battle defaults, otherwise, conflicts may occur.

3, Please bring down your mouse usage rate to as limited as possible because certain center view error may happen if you use the mouse to change view. In order to fix that, I recommend you define both the "PanView Center View" and "SnapView Look Forward"commands in Forgotten Battles game control to an identical key(We call it the "FB Center View key"), for example, i mapped both of these two commands on the "HOME" button. But make sure that key should not be the same as the "Center View" command assigned in "FB View Plus"(the "Plus Center View key").If the center view error takes place, please first click the "Plus Center View key", than click the "FB Center View key", it shall settle the issue.

This version of "FB View Plus" was an emulation of the mouse movement. If this little program proves to be useful to you, I will make an upgrade version which emulates the movement of TrackIR, and the inconvenience of possible view error will be gone.
