1. You have lots of backfaces that can be deleted to optimize the mesh.
2. Those blue circles will just make your life hard and ultimately wont look very good.
Best way to make those types of instruments (like I did in the SU-17) is to simply make "planes" and use alpha channel .TGA to make the background of the instruments transparent.
