Dass = dassault
"Senior Taiwanese Military Officers and Scientists from Chung Shan Institute of Science & Technology and approached the arospace company I was contracted to at the time for assistance on some technical issues. I wasn't on the aviation side, but was working on a recoil management project.
On the recoil side, the DEFA canons were impacting on airframe fatigue as they had hit a life cycle management curve. The airframe was deteriorating and would either need panel repair, or access to a metal micro repair system which was not available for export. The other solution was major tub or centre barrel replacement. (Or to use a weapon that was less recoil aggressive)
Due to fatigue issues they were restricted to what they could perform in high energy manouvres and absolute strike roles.
In addition they were complaining about the fact that even their non fatigued aircraft were not performing at specific altitudes as they should have. At the time, they believed that Dass has misrepresented the health of the platforms as Dass never mentioned fatigue or airframe restricted problems."
