un A40-T d'Antonov, plus d'infos dans batailles & blindés n°1. En résumé le char ne supportait pas l'atterrissage donc le projet a été arrêté en 44

In 1932, the Soviet high command requested many new concepts of the airborne warfare for aerial close-support to the army. That was included dropping an armored vehicle from the sky to support the parachute troops. The original concept was converting the 32 tons tank, T-34 into a glider and towed by a pair of Ant-20bis as tugs. In 1939, Soviet airborne force considered to try the light-weighted tank, T-60 for the experiment, and selected Antonov OKB for the glider design. The prototype was started in 1941, and was given designation A-40, KT which meant "Kryl'ya Tanka" (winged tank). The tank was lightened for flight test by removing the armament, the signal light and the tracks fenders. The first and only flight was made by tow from TB-3 in 1942. The test was judged successful with smooth landing, but the test pilot (who also performed as the tank driver) doubted that it would be lack of control if fly by the full loaded tank. As the real need was to fly in the heavier T-34, and also due to the shortage of the tow aircraft, the KT project was cancelled.

Indice : Le constructeur existe toujours et a fabriqué depuis très longtemps des avions civils d'affaire de petite taille très prisés (qui volent toujours et sur lesquels 80% des pilotes professionnels ont débuté leurs carrières). Il a même développé un jet d'affaire mais le succès a été nettement moindre.

In 1942, USAAF requested for a new heavy armored ground attack airplane as planned to replace the Douglas A-20 Havoc. Beech Aircraft Corp had already started work on the design of the Model 28 ¡§Destroyer" which the specification did met to the requirement. So a contract was awarded to Beech for two prototypes that designated XA-38 and re-named "Grizzly" with competition in Hughes XA-37 (later it changed to XF-11). For ground attack purpose, the aircraft wore a cannon and two guns in the nose, as well as with two remote-controlled turrets on the fuselage. Two powerful Wright engines as served same in the B-29 bomber were chosen to drive this heavy machine. First flight was made in 1944. The aircraft proved satisfactory and better than expected. However, due to the lack of engines at war, B-29 had top priority to use the engines inventory. It led to the A-38 never served in quantity. After the second prototype tested in September 1945, the USAAF lost interest in the attack bomber. The XA-38 project was cancelled.

Je suis obligé de chercher sur le net un minimum (taper le nom de l'avion sur Google), et là je choisis de préférence l'article le plus concis. Des fois j'en lis plus de 10... mais c'est comme cela que l'on se cultive !
